The National Stock Exchange (NSE) on September 11, 2026, issued the FAQ on Segregation and Monitoring of collateral at client level.
NSE has issued FAQs clarifying client-level collateral segregation and reporting requirements for Clearing Members and Custodians. Members shall report Error/Own code under account type “C” and report segregated client collateral even where there is no Peak/EOD margin obligation, if any client collateral is held. During a change of Clearing Member, the existing member may report the collateral on T Day, while the new member reports it from the next trading day. Collateral placed with another Clearing Corporation shall be reported to that respective corporation. For funds received after the cut-off against a client’s debit balance, the funds shall first be adjusted against the debit and only the balance, if any, reported as retained in T+1 with the appropriate justification code.
Further, option value collected in cash shall be included in the client’s ledger balance and reported under “Cash placed with CM” and “Cash placed with NCL” in T+1 reporting.
